Aprilia introduced the Shiver as a new-generation middleweight roadster in 2007, using it to help relaunch its motorcycle lineup with a more street-focused model than the brand’s traditional sport machines. The original version was the Shiver 750, a naked twin-cylinder bike that stood out for bringing Aprilia’s ride-by-wire throttle control to a mass-produced motorcycle. The nameplate was refreshed and expanded in 2017 with the Shiver 900, which kept the same basic identity but brought a larger-displacement V-twin and updated styling and equipment. Aprilia positioned it as a versatile naked bike aimed at riders who wanted everyday usability with a strong sporting character, rather than a pure race-replica experience. The Shiver 900 carried forward the model’s reputation for approachable performance and advanced rider electronics, while giving the line a more mature and refined feel.
Across both eras, the Shiver became important as one of Aprilia’s key modern road models. It helped define the brand’s post-2000 street-bike strategy and is remembered by enthusiasts as the model that translated Aprilia’s technical image from the track and the dirt to the naked-bike category.
