MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Sportcity One 50

Aprilia introduced the Sportcity One as the more compact, urban-focused member of its Sportcity scooter family, positioned below the larger Sportcity Cube models. The nameplate first appeared for the 2008 model year, with 50 cc versions offered in both two-stroke and four-stroke form, alongside a 125 cc sibling. Aprilia’s own parts and accessory documentation continued to treat Sportcity One as a distinct family through the early 2010s, and model-year price lists show the 50 cc scooter in regular sales through 2012. By 2013, Aprilia marked the Sportcity One 50 as phased out, indicating the end of the original continuous production run. The Sportcity One 50 fit Aprilia’s strategy of offering a practical small-wheel city scooter with a sportier image than many commuter rivals, using the Sportcity name to connect it to the brand’s broader scooter lineup while keeping the package lighter and more compact for everyday urban use. It is remembered as part of Aprilia’s late-2000s scooter expansion, when the company was balancing lifestyle styling with mainstream commuter practicality. The model did not return in a later revival under the same nameplate, so its history is a single, clearly bounded production era.
