The Story of the Atlantic 200

The Aprilia Atlantic 200 was the mid-size member of Aprilia’s Atlantic scooter family, introduced as part of the brand’s move into larger, comfort-oriented step-throughs at the start of the 2000s. It shared the Atlantic nameplate with the 125 and 500, but the 200 was aimed at riders who wanted a practical commuter scooter with enough road presence for suburban and highway use, without stepping up to the largest version. Contemporary Aprilia service literature and market references place the Atlantic 125/200 launch in 2002, with the 200 model running through 2004. Aprilia later expanded the Atlantic line into other displacements, but the Atlantic 200 itself did not continue as a long-running separate nameplate beyond that initial run. The model is best remembered as an early-2000s European maxi-scooter that helped define Aprilia’s scooter identity alongside the better-known 500, combining the brand’s design flair with everyday touring utility. In some export markets it appeared in Aprilia’s scooter lineup for the mid-2000s, but the original Atlantic 200 nameplate belongs to the 2002 to 2004 production period.
