BXXR

BXXR is Volvo’s internal coach-chassis designation for the modern premium rear-engine platform that debuted with the B13R in 2009. The series marked a new generation of Volvo coach hardware, replacing the earlier B12B-based lineup in the high-output touring and line-haul segment. In 2011, the same basic platform was expanded to include the smaller-engined B11R, giving operators a choice of chassis under the same family architecture. Over time, the BXXR family became the backbone for Volvo’s premium coach offerings in multiple markets, including rigid two-axle, tri-axle, and double-decker applications. Although individual derivative models have been updated, reengineered, and marketed under specific nameplates, BXXR itself has remained the umbrella platform designation for Volvo’s current coach chassis family rather than a short-lived standalone model.
