The Story of the EX90

This all-electric flagship SUV was unveiled in late 2022 as the company’s first model built on a new electric-first architecture and positioned as a major step in its transition to a fully electric future. Although the reveal took place in 2022, the nameplate’s first marketed model year was 2024, with pre-orders opening in the United States and production beginning in 2024 at the Charleston, South Carolina plant. Customer deliveries followed later that year, making it one of the brand’s most important recent launches.

The vehicle was presented as a large, three-row family SUV aimed at the premium end of the market, and it quickly became the brand’s new technological showcase. It introduced several firsts for the company, including core-computing hardware and advanced sensor technology that were highlighted as part of a broader safety- and software-focused strategy. The launch also marked a significant shift in production geography, with the model assembled in the United States rather than in the manufacturer’s traditional European home market.

Because this nameplate is still in production, there is no final model year to record yet. There is also no evidence of an earlier discontinuation and revival, so the model is treated as a single continuous production run to date.
