The Story of the Speed Twin 900

Triumph introduced the Speed Twin 900 nameplate for the 2025 model year, when it replaced the earlier Street Twin branding as part of a refreshed entry in Triumph’s modern classic 900cc twin family. The model sits in the Bonneville-inspired middle of Triumph’s classic range, combining retro styling cues with a compact parallel-twin layout and approachable road manners. While the Speed Twin 900 badge is new, it continues a lineage that began with the Street Twin in 2016, which helped establish Triumph’s contemporary 900cc modern-classic formula for everyday riding, customization, and urban use.

The rebadged model arrived with a stronger emphasis on a sportier, more contemporary presentation, while keeping the easygoing character that made the Street Twin line popular with riders looking for a friendly but stylish motorcycle. Triumph positioned it as a versatile all-rounder rather than a pure retro showpiece: a bike meant for commuting, weekend rides, and relaxed back-road use, with enough character to appeal to riders drawn to British heritage design.

The Speed Twin 900 name also aligns it more closely with Triumph’s broader Speed Twin family, reflecting the brand’s habit of reusing historic Triumph names on modern motorcycles. In that sense, the model bridges two eras: the practical, accessible modern classic that emerged in the mid-2010s, and the more design-led, performance-flavored identity Triumph applied from 2025 onward. It remains an important part of Triumph’s current 900cc lineup and a key gateway model for riders entering the brand’s classic range.
