Triumph revived the Speed Twin name with an all-new modern classic roadster revealed in 2018 and launched for the 2019 model year. The modern Speed Twin 1200 was positioned as a more performance-focused member of Triumph’s Bonneville family, combining classic British twin-cylinder style with sharper roadster handling and a sportier rider position than the more traditional retro models in the range. In Triumph’s own brand history, the original Speed Twin dates to 1937, when Edward Turner’s 498cc twin helped define the company’s identity for decades. The contemporary Speed Twin 1200 draws on that legacy in name and character, but it belongs to Triumph’s current Modern Classics era, beginning with the 2019 introduction of the revived model. Since then, the bike has remained part of the brand’s roadster lineup and has continued to evolve through updates and special editions, including higher-spec factory and limited-run variants.
Because this model is still in production and has not had a confirmed end date, it should be treated as an ongoing nameplate with no final model year yet assigned.
