The Story of the Rocket 3

Triumph’s big-bore cruiser first appeared in 2004 as the Rocket III, a motorcycle built around the company’s instantly recognizable triple-cylinder formula and an outsized road presence. It stood apart from conventional cruisers by pairing muscular styling with a class-leading engine size for its era, quickly earning a reputation as one of the most extreme factory motorcycles on sale. Triumph’s official history describes the 2004 launch as the moment the Rocket burst onto the scene and notes that the modern Rocket 3 line continues that same legend. After the original Rocket III era ended, Triumph revived the nameplate in 2019 with an all-new generation that shifted the model toward a more refined, high-spec muscle roadster identity. That second era introduced a thoroughly redesigned chassis, fresh styling, and a new 2,500cc triple, while preserving the model’s core appeal of overwhelming torque and unusual visual drama. The Rocket 3 remains a flagship Triumph for riders who want a motorcycle that is as much about engineering theater and character as it is about outright performance.
