Suzuki’s Touring nameplate appears in early-1980s motorcycle VIN and model-record references tied to the brand’s large road-going touring models, including GS 650 GL and GS 650 GT variants. The nameplate was used for a short run beginning with the 1981 model year and continuing through the 1983 model year, after which it disappeared from the lineup. In period sources, these machines are identified by multiple related descriptor codes, reflecting the way Suzuki grouped closely related touring versions under one umbrella designation. They belonged to the era when Suzuki was expanding beyond sport and standard motorcycles into more comfortable long-distance models with full road equipment and a more relaxed riding position.
