This four-seat RZR XP 1000 variant arrived for the 2014 model year as Polaris extended its then-new XP 1000 performance platform into a family- and group-oriented side-by-side. It was positioned as the longer, more accommodating sibling to the two-seat XP 1000, combining the RZR line’s sport-first character with usable seating for four and a broader appeal for trail riding, recreation and off-road touring.
From its introduction, the nameplate became part of the core RZR performance family rather than a short-lived special edition. Polaris has kept the model in continuous production, and over time the vehicle has evolved through trim and feature changes while retaining the same basic market identity: a high-performance four-seat sport side-by-side in the XP class. Early versions helped establish the formula, while later editions added equipment and appearance upgrades aimed at different kinds of buyers, from more basic sport trims to better-equipped premium and ultimate versions.
A major turning point came with the 2024 model-year redesign, when Polaris reworked the RZR XP line around a new chassis, updated cabin layout and an all-new engine, signaling a fresh generation for the family rather than a new nameplate. Even with that update, the model remained clearly the same historical vehicle line, carrying forward the established RZR XP 4 1000 identity while modernizing the hardware underneath. It remains one of Polaris’s best-known four-seat performance side-by-sides and a long-running entry in the RZR lineup.
