MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Ranger XP 1000

Introduced for the 2018 model year, this nameplate marked Polaris’ move to a new flagship full-size utility side-by-side in the RANGER family. The launch positioned it above the long-running midsize and entry-level models, with a stronger emphasis on a more premium work-and-trail balance and a broader range of trims and equipment than earlier RANGER variants. From the start, it was offered in standard and special-edition forms, and Polaris quickly expanded the range with cabbed and higher-content derivatives aimed at cold-weather use, hunting, and all-season utility. Over the following model years, the nameplate remained a core part of Polaris’ off-road lineup, with continual updates and special editions rather than a break in production. It became the main high-output RANGER badge for buyers who wanted the most capable standard-width full-size RANGER before the lineup later added more specialized cab and extreme-duty alternatives. As of the latest official Polaris lineup, the nameplate is still in production.
