MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the GEN

Introduced for the 2016 model year, this Polaris side-by-side was launched in late 2015 as the brand’s first crossover UTV, positioned to blend trail performance with utility-focused capability. It arrived as a new kind of off-road machine for Polaris, bridging the gap between sport-oriented and work-oriented vehicles rather than fitting neatly into either category. The original concept emphasized a roomy cabin, integrated storage, a cargo dump box, and a comfortable driving position, all wrapped in a package aimed at riders who wanted one vehicle that could handle both recreation and chores.

Over time, the nameplate evolved into a broader family rather than a single trim. The early lineup established the formula that has defined it ever since: a do-it-all off-road vehicle with the stance and feel of a sport machine, but with the practicality expected from a utility side-by-side. That positioning helped it stand out when it debuted, because it was not simply another work UTV or another sport machine, but a deliberately mixed-purpose model built for riders who wanted one vehicle for trails, property use, and everyday outdoor tasks.

The model has remained a continuing part of Polaris’ off-road lineup since its introduction and has not shown a break in production. Its significance comes from being the company’s crossover entry and one of the vehicles that helped popularize the idea of a premium, versatile side-by-side segment.
