Polaris introduced AXYS for the 2015 model year as its next-generation snowmobile platform, debuting first on trail and crossover sleds before expanding the following season into mountain models. The name quickly became associated with Polaris’s rider-forward chassis philosophy, emphasizing balanced ergonomics and sharper handling across a wide range of snowmobile families. Over the next several model years, AXYS underpinned some of Polaris’s most recognizable performance sleds, including RMK mountain machines, Switchback crossover models, and other high-performance variants built around the same core architecture. In Polaris’s snowmobile history, AXYS marked a major transition away from the older Pro-Ride era and helped define the company’s mid-2010s lineup strategy. By 2023, Polaris had moved its mainstream snowmobile range to the newer Matryx platform, and AXYS was no longer part of the current lineup, ending its production run after the 2022 model year.
