This midsize station wagon nameplate arrived with the 1978 downsized intermediate lineup and replaced the earlier Vista Cruiser role in the brand’s wagon range. In its first years, it shared its rear-wheel-drive architecture with the rest of the intermediate family and was positioned as a practical, family-oriented wagon rather than a performance model. For 1984, it moved to the front-wheel-drive compact/midsize A-body platform, giving the badge a new layout and a more contemporary packaging approach. That later version remained on sale through the mid-1990s, making it one of the division’s longest-running wagon nameplates. Enthusiasts often remember it as a durable, utilitarian GM wagon that bridged the era from traditional rear-drive intermediates to the more space-efficient front-drive cars that followed.
