The Stone version of Moto Guzzi’s third-generation V7 was introduced for the 2017 model year, when the brand launched the V7 III family to mark the 50th anniversary of the original V7 line. Positioned as the most stripped-back and contemporary member of the range, it emphasized the model’s familiar transverse V-twin character and simple, minimalist styling rather than chrome-heavy classic cues. Alongside the V7 III Special and V7 III Racer, the Stone helped define the family’s more accessible, everyday personality while still keeping the unmistakable Mandello identity intact.
Over the V7 III run, the Stone remained the core dark-themed variant in the lineup, and Moto Guzzi periodically updated it with special editions and detail changes. One notable example was the V7 III Stone S, a numbered limited edition added for the 2020 model year, which gave the nameplate a more distinctive finish without changing its fundamental role in the range. By that point, the V7 III Stone had become the simplest expression of the V7 concept: a practical roadster with broad appeal, strong heritage ties, and a deliberately understated look.
The V7 III Stone nameplate ended with the arrival of Moto Guzzi’s all-new V7 for 2021, which replaced the V7 III generation rather than continuing it unchanged. As a result, the Stone’s production history is a single continuous run from 2017 through 2020, representing the final stage of the long-running V7’s 750cc era before the model moved to a new generation and larger engine architecture.
