MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the 570S

This McLaren Sports Series nameplate was introduced for the 2016 model year as the original road car in McLaren’s entry-level Sports Series family. It established the range’s formula of a carbon-fibre chassis, compact V8 powertrain, and a strong focus on everyday usability paired with supercar performance. The car was offered in coupe form first, with the Spider following as an open-top derivative, and it became the volume cornerstone of McLaren’s lineup alongside related Sports Series variants such as the 540C and 570GT.

The nameplate sat below the Super Series and helped broaden McLaren’s road-car presence beyond its earlier, more exclusive models. In period advertising and official literature, McLaren positioned it as the first model in the Sports Series and continued to support it through later model years, including MY19 and MY20 documentation. By the end of the decade, production of the coupe and Spider had been completed, marking the close of the original run.

Enthusiasts generally remember this model as the car that made McLaren ownership feel more attainable without abandoning the brand’s core identity: lightweight construction, mid-engine balance, and track-informed dynamics. Track-oriented derivatives such as the GT4 and Sprint also reinforced its significance in McLaren’s modern motorsport and customer-racing story.
