The early 950-version established the formula with a rugged rally-inspired chassis, long-travel suspension, and a focus on genuine off-road ability rather than pure touring comfort. For 2006, the line evolved into the 990 version, bringing a more developed road-and-trail package while retaining the same basic character and enthusiast following. Over the years it was offered in several market-specific forms, including standard, S, ABS, and special-edition variants, but it remained the same core model family. The final examples appeared in the early 2010s, with 2013 being the last model year for the line in some markets.
