This North American Kia nameplate arrived for the 2007 model year as a compact crossover/MPV derived from Kia’s Carens family, giving buyers minivan-like practicality in a smaller, more car-like package. It was positioned between a traditional wagon and a full minivan, with an emphasis on flexible seating and an efficient footprint rather than outright size. Kia’s own U.S. archive shows Rondo model years for 2007 through 2010, and the company’s 2006 milestones note plans to launch the all-new Rondo CUV ahead of its debut. The nameplate did not continue as a long-running global line in this form; in later years Kia shifted to other market-specific versions and eventually to the broader Carens/Rondo lineage in different regions. In the United States, the model’s run ended after the 2010 model year, making it a brief but distinctive entry in Kia’s early modern lineup.
