MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the K900

This nameplate was introduced in the U.S. as Kia’s flagship rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan for the 2015 model year. It was positioned above the brand’s mainstream passenger cars to give Kia a true large premium sedan in markets where the company was still building its upscale identity. The model wore the K900 badge in North America even though Kia used other market-specific naming in some regions, and it carried that U.S. nameplate through its life cycle. A redesigned version arrived for the 2019 model year, continuing the same basic mission but with a more upscale presentation and modernized technology. Kia’s U.S. model-year materials still included the vehicle through 2021, and the nameplate disappeared from the lineup afterward, marking the end of its continuous U.S. run. Enthusiasts tend to remember it as Kia’s boldest attempt at a full-size luxury sedan, a quiet, well-equipped halo car rather than a volume seller.
