MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the ZN750 LTD

This 750cc LTD nameplate appeared in the mid-1980s as Kawasaki’s cruiser-styled, shaft-drive entry in the LTD family. It was introduced for the 1984 model year and continued through 1985, positioned as the larger-displacement sibling to the closely related 700cc LTD version on the same general platform. Contemporary parts and application references identify the model as ZN750-A LTD for 1984–1985, and Kawasaki’s own owner-center cataloging shows the 1984 and 1985 LTD Shaft model years for this era. The bike fit the period’s American-market cruiser trend: relaxed ergonomics, chrome-heavy styling, and a traditional air-cooled inline-four layout rather than the more performance-focused looks of Kawasaki’s GPz and other sport models.

The LTD badge itself was already well established on Kawasaki street motorcycles by this time, but the ZN750-A represented a distinct chapter in that lineage. It followed the earlier 750 LTD traditions while adapting the formula into a more modern mid-1980s Japanese cruiser interpretation. Unlike some Kawasaki nameplates that returned after gaps, this specific ZN750 LTD designation is documented as a short, continuous production run with no clear later revival under the same exact nameplate.
