KZ250

Kawasaki’s KZ250 was a small-displacement street motorcycle introduced for the 1980 model year as part of the brand’s KZ family of four-stroke road machines. In Kawasaki’s own parts catalog, the plain KZ250 designation is documented for 1980 and 1981, with the bike appearing as the D1 and D2 series. The model was positioned as an approachable entry-level motorcycle, carrying the straightforward standards-bike layout that made the KZ nameplate familiar to new riders and commuters. Kawasaki later expanded the 250cc single-cylinder line into closely related KZ250-branded derivatives, including CSR and LTD Belt versions, but those were separate suffix variants rather than a continuation of the original plain KZ250 designation. As a result, the KZ250 is best understood as a short-lived early-1980s Kawasaki single that bridged the company’s late-1970s and mid-1980s small-bike offerings.
