MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the KZ305

This 305cc small-displacement street motorcycle nameplate first appeared for the 1981 model year as a compact cruiser-style twin aimed at entry-level and practical everyday use. The early run was sold in the early 1980s, with CSR versions identified in 1981 and 1982. After that initial period, the same nameplate returned later in the decade in a different cruiser format, including belt-drive LTD variants seen for the 1987 and 1988 model years. That gap and later return make it a nameplate with two distinct production eras rather than one uninterrupted run. Enthusiasts remember it as one of the brand’s approachable twin-cylinder street bikes of the era, notable for offering a lightweight, user-friendly alternative to larger cruisers and standards of the same period.
