KLX

The KLX name first appeared in 1979 on a 250cc off-road-oriented dual-purpose motorcycle, establishing a badge for machines meant to bridge trail riding and everyday use. In its earliest form, the nameplate was associated with a lightweight, practical single-cylinder concept rather than a full-size enduro race machine, which helped define the KLX identity as approachable and versatile from the start. Over time, the KLX badge expanded beyond that original mid-size model to cover a broader family of dirt-focused motorcycles, including youth-oriented trail bikes and larger dual-sport and off-road variants. A notable step in that expansion came in 2001 with the introduction of the KLX110, which brought the nameplate to a younger, beginner-friendly audience and reinforced the line’s reputation for easygoing off-road fun. Today, the KLX designation remains in use across multiple recreational off-road categories, including trail, dual-sport, and supermoto models, making it one of the brand’s longest-running and most recognizable dirt-bike families.
