MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the FX50

This nameplate appeared as part of Infiniti’s second-generation FX crossover, introduced for the 2009 model year as the V8-powered variant of the redesigned FX range. Infiniti positioned it as a performance-oriented luxury crossover, pairing the FX’s low-slung, coupe-like silhouette with a more powerful engine option than the FX35 and a strong emphasis on handling, technology, and premium features. The model ran as a single continuous production period through the 2013 model year. After that, Infiniti changed its naming strategy and renamed the FX line to QX70 for 2014, so the FX50 designation itself ended with the 2013 model year. It remains notable as one of the more distinctive Infiniti crossovers of its era, especially among enthusiasts who remember it as the high-output flagship of the FX family.
