The INFINITI G35 was introduced for the 2003 model year as the brand’s new entry in the premium sport-sedan and sport-coupe market. It arrived as part of INFINITI’s effort to move beyond its early luxury-car image and into a more performance-focused era, combining rear-wheel-drive dynamics, a driver-oriented layout, and a more expressive design than the brand’s earlier offerings. The coupe reached dealers in late 2002, while the sedan followed as a 2003 model year vehicle, and the sedan version quickly earned major attention by being named Motor Trend’s 2003 Car of the Year.
Over its life, the nameplate spanned two closely related body styles: a sedan offered from 2003 through 2008 and a coupe offered from 2003 through 2007. The model underwent mid-cycle updates that sharpened its styling and kept it competitive in the crowded entry-luxury segment, while the later sedan received a revised powertrain and available all-wheel-drive variants. That evolution helped the G35 become one of INFINITI’s best-known modern nameplates and a key part of the brand’s identity during the 2000s.
The G35’s run ended in 2008, when it was replaced by the G37.
