Hyundai’s high-performance compact sedan arrived as a modern N-brand halo car for the seventh-generation Elantra, with a global debut in 2021 and a 2022 model-year rollout. It was developed to bring the N division’s track-focused character into a practical four-door package, positioning it above the Elantra N Line and alongside Hyundai’s other enthusiast-oriented N models. From the start, the car was sold in different markets under related local names, including Avante N in South Korea, but it remained the same core performance nameplate. The model quickly became important to Hyundai’s performance-image strategy in North America and other regions because it paired everyday usability with the more serious hardware and chassis tuning expected of the N sub-brand. In 2023, Hyundai gave the car a global refresh that updated the exterior, technology, and performance tuning while keeping the same nameplate and mission. The ELANTRA N has remained in production since its introduction, making it a single continuous run rather than a discontinued-and-revived nameplate.
