MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the VF750 (Sabre V45)

Honda introduced this V4-standard motorcycle in 1982 as part of its first production VF750 lineup, and it was marketed in some markets as the V45 Sabre. It arrived alongside the VF750 Magna and was notable as one of Honda’s earliest liquid-cooled V4 street models, helping establish the company’s V4 era in the early 1980s. The Sabre nameplate here refers to the 750 cc shaft-drive standard/touring model, positioned below the more fully faired sport variants that followed. Production was brief, ending after the 1983 model year before Honda moved to reduced-displacement VF700 versions in response to market and regulatory pressures. Enthusiasts remember it as an important early Honda V4 and a key step in the company’s transition from inline-four to V4 road bikes.
