The Story of the TRX450FM

Honda’s Foreman 450 S was introduced for the 2002 model year as part of the TRX450 Foreman family, alongside the electric-shift Foreman ES. It sat in Honda’s full-size utility ATV lineup as a rugged, work-focused machine aimed at riders who wanted simple, durable drivetrain hardware and traditional manual shifting rather than the automation of some later Honda utility models. The TRX450FM designation covers the manual-shift Foreman S variant sold for 2002 through 2004, and Honda published model-specific owner and parts literature for those years. The 450 Foreman family represented an important step in Honda’s utility ATV evolution, bridging the earlier 400-class machines and the later larger-displacement Foreman generation. In the mid-2000s, Honda replaced this 450 series with the newer Foreman 500 family, ending the TRX450FM nameplate after the 2004 model year. Today it is remembered as a straightforward, highly regarded utility ATV from Honda’s early-2000s Foreman era.
