The Story of the Shadow Phantom

Introduced for the 2010 model year, this Shadow family cruiser was Honda’s factory-built answer to riders who wanted bobber styling without stepping into a full custom build. It took the familiar 745cc liquid-cooled V-twin platform from Honda’s long-running middleweight cruiser lineup and wrapped it in a darker, more stripped-down presentation: short fenders, a solo saddle, de-chromed trim, and a low-slung stance that gave it a distinctly minimalist look compared with the more traditional Shadow variants.

The nameplate’s character has always been about style more than reinvention. Where other cruisers in the same family leaned toward classic chrome or retro detailing, this model emphasized blacked-out components and a cleaner silhouette. That visual identity helped it stand out as one of Honda’s more custom-inspired production cruisers, aimed at riders who wanted an understated bike with a factory finish and everyday usability.

In the years that followed, Honda kept the nameplate in the lineup and periodically updated its colors and equipment, but the basic concept remained consistent: a simple, dark, bobber-themed cruiser built around the proven 745cc platform. It has become one of the better-known modern entries in Honda’s Shadow line, especially for riders drawn to compact proportions, low seat height, and a no-nonsense aesthetic. The model is still offered today, so there is no final model year to record.
