MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Fireblade

Introduced in 1992, this supersport nameplate was created to deliver a lighter, more approachable alternative to the liter-and-up superbikes of its era. The original machine arrived as a 900cc-class inline-four and quickly became known for combining strong performance with unusually compact dimensions and road-friendly handling. Rather than chasing outright spec-sheet extremes, its identity was built around balance, agility, and real-world rideability, which helped establish it as a landmark in modern sportbike design. In the early 2000s, the line evolved into a 1000cc successor that carried the same performance-focused philosophy forward while adapting to the growing demands of track riding and electronic control. Honda then launched a major new generation for 2020, marking a fresh chapter with deeper racing influence and a sharper emphasis on high-performance supersport technology. The nameplate has remained a core part of Honda’s sportbike story for more than three decades and is still in production today.
