MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the TRX420 (Rancher)

This nameplate first appeared for the 2007 model year as the next evolution of the long-running Rancher utility ATV line, moving to a 420cc-class platform and expanding the family with multiple 2WD and 4WD configurations. Early versions focused on a compact, work-oriented single-rider ATV with manual shift and electronically assisted shifting options, and the range quickly broadened to include electric power steering and automatic transmission variants. Over time, the nameplate became Honda’s mainstream mid-size utility ATV offering, positioned between smaller entry-level machines and larger flagship work models. Its identity has stayed centered on durability, versatile farm-and-trail use, and a broad trim spread rather than radical redesigns, and it remains in production today as one of the best-known names in Honda’s ATV lineup.
