Honda’s CM450 nameplate belonged to a short-lived early-1980s cruiser family built around Honda’s 447 cc parallel-twin platform. It appeared as several related versions, including the standard E model, the Custom variant, and the Hondamatic automatic-transmission version. Honda’s own service and parts documentation for the CM450 series covers the 1982–1983 model years, and period parts listings and sales literature likewise place the CM450 family in that same window. The model emerged during Honda’s effort to broaden its mid-size street lineup with more relaxed, cruiser-oriented motorcycles, distinct from the company’s sportier CB twins and from the later CMX Rebel line. The CM450 is remembered as an accessible, practical Honda twin from the transitional early-1980s era, when the company was experimenting with different formats and transmissions for the U.S. market.
