The Story of the CG150

Honda’s CG150 nameplate was introduced in Brazil for the 2004 model year as a major redesign of the long-running CG family. It replaced the earlier 125 cc-based formula with a more modern 150 cc class package, and Honda positioned it as a tougher, more capable evolution rather than a simple engine-size increase. The launch marked a significant step for Honda’s Brazilian motorcycle line, with the CG150 offered in multiple versions aimed at different riders and uses, including commuter-oriented variants and more fully equipped versions with electric start and front disc braking.

The CG150 quickly became one of the most important motorcycles in Honda’s Brazilian lineup. Over time it spawned several notable derivatives and updates, including sportier and commemorative editions. In 2009, the range gained particular historical significance with the CG150 Titan Mix, which introduced Honda’s flex-fuel technology to motorcycles and became a landmark model for the brand in Brazil. That period also brought broader technical and styling updates that kept the CG150 family fresh in a highly competitive market.

By the 2013–2015 model cycle, the CG150 family had expanded further with updated Titan, Fan, and Cargo versions, reflecting Honda’s strategy of using the CG platform as the backbone of its Brazilian commuter motorcycle business. The nameplate’s run ended when the larger CG160 family arrived for 2016, carrying forward the CG’s market role and replacing the 150 cc generation. As a result, the CG150 is remembered as the transitional model that modernized Honda’s Brazilian commuter motorcycle line and helped define the country’s small-displacement motorcycle market in the 2000s and early 2010s.
