TLE for FLHTC

This Harley-Davidson TLE application was the company’s classic sidecar fitment for FLHTC Touring motorcycles, part of the long-running sidecar tradition that Harley-Davidson supported on its FL-based touring platform. Harley-Davidson service documentation shows FLHTC compatibility as early as the 1983 model-year era, and later parts/service references continue to list FLHTC-sidecar combinations through subsequent Touring updates. Over time, the sidecar package evolved with changes to wiring, lighting, brakes, and attachment hardware so it could be adapted to later Touring generations rather than being a one-year novelty. In the mid-1990s, Harley-Davidson documentation still explicitly addressed FLTC/FLHTC sidecar combinations, and by the 2000s the TLE/TLE-Ultra attachment kits were written for the then-current Touring family. The sidecar remained an enthusiast-oriented accessory for riders who wanted the stability, utility, and distinctive look of a three-track Harley-Davidson without moving to a dedicated trike platform. Because the TLE sidecar was an accessory fitment rather than a standalone motorcycle line, its history is best understood as a series of compatibility eras tied to FLHTC touring models rather than a single simple model run.
