Harley-Davidson’s Night Rod Special was the more aggressive, blacked-out member of the liquid-cooled VRSC family, created to give the V-Rod concept a harder drag-style look and a lower, more custom stance. The ABS-equipped version of the model appeared for the 2008 model year under the Night Rod Special with ABS nameplate, following the original Night Rod Special introduction a year earlier. It remained in Harley-Davidson’s VRSC lineup through the 2011 model year, when the ABS-specific variant ended as the family was reshuffled for 2012. Enthusiasts often view it as one of the most distinctive factory Harley performance cruisers of its era, combining the Revolution-engine platform’s Euro-influenced hardware with the Night Rod Special’s stripped, dark aesthetic.
