The Story of the CVO Dyna 2

This limited-edition Harley-Davidson CVO Dyna nameplate appeared for the 2007 model year as part of the company’s Custom Vehicle Operations program, bringing a factory-custom, performance-focused treatment to the Dyna platform. Harley-Davidson identified the 2007 version with the FXDSE designation, and the line carried into 2008 as the FXDSE2. In Harley-Davidson’s own terminology, CVO models are distinct, limited-run models rather than simple trim packages, and the Dyna-based CVO entries sat near the top of the brand’s cruiser lineup.

The CVO Dyna is historically significant because it paired the familiar Dyna chassis with the most exclusive Harley-Davidson personalization and performance upgrades of its era, emphasizing drag-style attitude, premium finishes, and limited production. It arrived late in the Dyna family’s history, after the Dyna platform had already become a core Harley-Davidson big-twin architecture, and it reflected the period when CVO was expanding beyond touring models into more aggressive factory-custom cruisers.

The nameplate did not continue beyond 2008, so this is a single, completed production run rather than a revived or recurring model. It remains notable among Harley-Davidson enthusiasts as one of the rarer CVO Dyna variants and as an early example of Harley-Davidson using the CVO formula to elevate the Dyna line into a more collectible, factory-custom performance statement.
