MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the C8

This GMC medium-duty nameplate belonged to the 8500-series C-series truck line introduced for the 2003 model year and carried through the 2009 model year. It was part of GMC’s conventional-cab, crew-cab, and cutaway medium-duty family, used for commercial work such as straight trucks, dump trucks, service bodies, and other vocational upfits. The 8500-series designation identified the heavier end of the C-series range, and GMC paired it with gasoline and diesel powertrain choices typical of medium-duty commercial use. It continued GMC’s long-running practice of offering professional-grade commercial trucks distinct from its light-duty pickups and SUVs. Production ended after 2009, and GMC later moved its medium-duty presence to other commercial truck lines rather than continuing this exact C-series nameplate.
