The Story of the La Ferrari

Ferrari introduced this limited-series hybrid hypercar in 2013 as the brand’s first road car to pair a naturally aspirated V12 with hybrid assistance. It was conceived as the flagship expression of Ferrari’s road-car and motorsport technology, sitting at the top of the company’s modern lineup and serving as a successor to the Enzo in spirit rather than by direct naming. The model’s production was intentionally exclusive, with Ferrari planning a fixed run and treating it as a milestone car for the marque rather than a regular series model.

The car quickly became significant within Ferrari history because it marked the company’s first use of HY-KERS technology in a road car and showcased a carbon-fiber-heavy, highly aerodynamic approach that influenced later Ferrari engineering. Ferrari reported that the model completed its limited series run in 2016. In that same year, Ferrari unveiled the LaFerrari Aperta, an open-top derivative created as a separate limited special series to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary, but the original coupé model itself had already reached the end of its production lifecycle. Today it is regarded as one of Ferrari’s defining modern halo cars and a landmark in the transition from naturally aspirated supercars to electrified performance flagships.
