The Story of the Daytona SP3

This limited-edition Ferrari was unveiled in November 2021 at Mugello during Finali Mondiali as the second model in the marque’s Icona series. Ferrari positioned it as a modern homage to its mid-rear-engined sports prototypes from the 1960s, especially the racing cars that defined the company’s golden era in endurance competition. The name itself connects the car to Ferrari’s Daytona racing legacy, linking the model to the brand’s historic success at Daytona and the broader prototype tradition that inspired its design.

Unlike Ferrari’s core production range, this is a strictly limited collector-focused series, built in a fixed run of 599 cars. Ferrari began delivering the model in late 2022, and the company continued allocating examples through 2023 and 2024 in line with its delivery plan. As part of the Icona family, it occupies a special place in Ferrari’s modern lineup: not a recurring mass-production model, but a rare, highly curated interpretation of the company’s heritage for enthusiasts and collectors.

Stylistically, it is meant to evoke classic closed-wheel racing machines while remaining unmistakably contemporary. Its targa-style layout and retro-inspired proportions are central to its identity, making it one of the most distinctive Ferrari road cars of the modern era and a key expression of the company’s practice of reimagining historic icons as limited-production specials.
