MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Roma

Introduced in late 2019 and reaching customers from 2020, this front-engine 2+ grand tourer marked Ferrari’s move toward a cleaner, more understated modern design language. It was presented as a contemporary expression of the Italian ‘dolce vita’ theme, aimed at buyers who wanted Ferrari performance in a more elegant, daily-usable package than the brand’s more overtly track-focused cars. The car’s styling emphasized long, flowing proportions, a fastback profile and a restrained tail treatment that set it apart from earlier Ferrari GTs.

This nameplate was developed as part of Ferrari’s modern grand-touring lineup and was positioned above the more lifestyle-oriented drop-top models of the period. It also became important as the brand’s last front-engined V8 coupe of its era, helping define a distinct design and market direction for Ferrari’s road cars in the early 2020s. Ferrari later expanded the concept with a spider version, but that was a separate body style rather than a continuation of the coupe nameplate itself.

The coupe remained in production through the 2024 model year, after which Ferrari phased it out. In 2025, Ferrari unveiled the Amalfi as the replacement in its lineup, confirming the end of this model’s single continuous run. For enthusiasts, it stands out as one of Ferrari’s most refined modern GTs: a car that blended high-speed capability with a more discreet, elegant character and helped bridge the company’s traditional front-engined grand tourers with its newer design era.
