MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the 348 tb

Introduced for 1989, this rear-mid-engine V8 berlinetta was Ferrari’s successor to the 328 GTB/GTS and marked a new generation of the marque’s mid-engined eight-cylinder cars. The car was a clean-sheet design rather than a simple evolution, with a more modern layout and a focus on sharper handling and high-performance road use. It sat at the heart of Ferrari’s V8 range as the fixed-roof coupe counterpart to the open-topped version of the same family. In 1993, Ferrari updated the 348 line and the TB nameplate was replaced by the revised GTB designation, making the original TB a distinct first-era model rather than a long-running badge reused unchanged. The 348 TB is remembered as an important bridge between the earlier 308/328 series and the later F355, and as one of the last Ferraris developed under Enzo Ferrari’s oversight.
