This early 750 twin-cylinder Ducati family began with the single-seat 750 Sport, introduced in 1972 to celebrate the Imola racing breakthrough. It was followed by the 750 Super Sport Desmo, launched at the Milan Motor Show in November 1973 and closely tied to the Imola 200 racing machines that inspired it. Together, these motorcycles marked Ducati’s transition into larger-capacity road sports bikes and helped establish the brand’s reputation for lightweight handling, racing-bred character, and distinctive Italian styling. The 750 Sport used a non-desmodromic engine, while the Super Sport Desmo became the first production Ducati road bike to feature the desmodromic valve system, making it a milestone in the company’s engineering history.
