Charger

The Charger nameplate first appeared for 1966, introduced by Dodge during the height of the American muscle-car era as a performance-oriented coupe with fastback styling and a strong V-8 identity. That original run built the car’s reputation through the late 1960s and 1970s, but the badge did not follow a single uninterrupted path: after the classic rear-wheel-drive Charger era ended, Dodge later revived the name in the early 1980s on a much smaller front-wheel-drive hatchback built around the compact-car era. The Charger badge then disappeared again before returning in the 2000s on a modern rear-wheel-drive performance sedan, which became the best-known contemporary interpretation of the name. In recent years Dodge has continued to build on that heritage with an all-new Charger line that keeps the nameplate alive in a new multi-energy era. Across its history, the Charger has stood as one of Dodge’s most recognizable performance nameplates, linked to both classic muscle-car culture and later generations of enthusiast-focused road cars.
