Military Truck

This military-spec Chevrolet truck belongs to the CUCV era, when General Motors built light tactical vehicles for the U.S. military using commercial pickup architecture with limited modifications. The best-known examples from this family were the M1008 cargo truck and the related M1010 ambulance, both built from 1984 through 1987 for service with the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps. They were based on a heavy-duty 4x4 pickup layout rather than a purpose-built combat chassis, which made them a practical, maintainable choice for non-combat roles such as cargo hauling, troop transport, and medical evacuation. The CUCV program is remembered as a transitional chapter between civilian truck platforms and later military utility vehicles, and it has become especially recognizable among collectors and surplus-vehicle enthusiasts for its utilitarian specification and square-body Chevrolet roots. Production ended after the 1987 model year, when the military moved on from the original CUCV family.
