MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Maverick R

Introduced for the 2024 model year, this high-performance side-by-side marked a new chapter in Can-Am’s off-road lineup. BRP unveiled it in August 2023 as an all-new machine built around a turbocharged Rotax 999cc inline-three engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, giving the brand a fresh flagship focused on maximum performance, advanced drivability, and race-inspired engineering. The design arrived with a wider, more rigid chassis, long-travel suspension, and a driver-centric cockpit that emphasized both speed and control.

From the start, the nameplate was positioned as Can-Am’s top-end sport SxS, aimed at riders who wanted a more advanced and more powerful alternative to the company’s earlier Maverick performance models. The original 2024 lineup launched with several configurations, and the range quickly expanded in later model years to include additional variants and body styles while retaining the same core identity. Across the family, the model became known for its emphasis on cutting-edge suspension technology, premium cockpit features, and a strong connection to competition-style off-road use.

The nameplate has remained in production since its debut and has not shown a separate earlier generation or a discontinued-and-revived history. It represents a modern, current-era performance platform rather than a long-running legacy badge.
