BMW’s CE 02 is a recent addition to the brand’s electric two-wheeler lineup and was launched as a 2024-model-year machine. It followed BMW Motorrad’s earlier CE 04 and continued the company’s effort to define a distinct urban electric sub-brand rather than simply adapting a conventional scooter or motorcycle formula. The CE 02 was previewed by the BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 in 2021, which introduced the basic idea of a compact, youthful, highly stylized electric commuter aimed at riders who might not see themselves as traditional motorcyclists.
The production model kept much of that original character and arrived as an intentionally unconventional urban runabout. BMW positioned it as an “eParkourer,” a term meant to suggest agile movement through city environments and over the mixed surfaces and obstacles of daily use. Its significance lies less in outright performance claims and more in how it broadens BMW Motorrad’s identity: the CE 02 is part of the company’s push into approachable electric mobility, with a design language that emphasizes simplicity, customization, and a playful, modern image.
As a marketed nameplate, the CE 02 is still in production, so its story is still being written. What matters historically is that it represents BMW’s second major CE-series production model, moving the idea of urban electric two-wheeling from concept stage into a distinct showroom product. It marks BMW Motorrad’s continued commitment to electric city transport and stands apart from the brand’s traditional petrol-powered motorcycles in both positioning and aesthetic approach.
