The Audi e-tron GT is Audi’s all-electric grand touring nameplate, introduced for the 2021 model year as a four-door performance-oriented fastback. Audi positioned it as a halo EV that carried the brand’s design and driving character into the electric era, while also marking an important manufacturing milestone: it was the first fully electric Audi built in Germany. Series production began at the Böllinger Höfe facility in Neckarsulm, and the car reached markets in 2021 after a brief prelaunch and order period in late 2020 and early 2021.
From the start, the e-tron GT was offered as a more emotional and upscale alternative to conventional sedans and SUVs, combining Audi’s grand-touring tradition with battery-electric power. The nameplate quickly became especially significant within Audi’s EV lineup because it was not just a conversion of an existing model, but a purpose-built electric flagship with a distinct body style and market identity. An RS variant joined the range at launch, giving the car added enthusiast appeal and helping establish the e-tron GT as the performance-focused side of Audi’s electric portfolio.
