The Story of the Two Passenger

Yamaha’s Drive2 nameplate was introduced for the 2016 model year as the next-generation evolution of its earlier Drive golf-car family. In Yamaha’s own timeline materials, Drive2 is positioned as a significant update rather than a completely separate concept: it carried forward the core ideas of the Drive line while adding new engineering and comfort-focused changes, including the QuieTech EFI gas powertrain and independent rear suspension. That helped establish Drive2 as Yamaha’s newer two-passenger golf-car platform for fleet, golf, and personal-use applications. The nameplate has remained part of Yamaha Golf Car’s lineup since its introduction, with the family later expanding into multiple variants and updates over time. Drive2 became especially important in Yamaha’s golf-car history because it marked the company’s shift toward a more refined, quieter, and more car-like golf-car experience while preserving the brand’s long-standing focus on course utility and durability.
