The Trophy 900 was Triumph’s original Hinckley-era sport-touring nameplate, introduced as part of the reborn Triumph line revealed in 1990 and first offered to customers for the 1991 model year. It sat at the touring end of Triumph’s new modular triple-cylinder family and was closely related to the contemporary 900cc road and sport models. Early bikes established the model as a practical long-distance machine rather than a pure performance bike, combining the brand’s revived triple engine character with full touring bodywork. In the mid-1990s, the motorcycle received a substantial fairing update and became more purpose-built for touring, with integrated luggage provisions that strengthened its role as a comfortable all-weather sport-tourer. The nameplate remained in production through the early 2000s and was deleted after the 2002 model year, making way for the larger Trophy 1200 to carry on the touring badge alone. Enthusiasts remember the Trophy 900 as one of the defining first-generation Hinckley Triumphs and an important bridge between the company’s heritage-inspired relaunch and its later modern touring machines.
