This small-displacement motocross nameplate first appeared in the mid-1970s as part of Suzuki’s RM racing-off-road family, with the earliest model-year examples dated to 1976. The original run continued through the early 1980s, ending after the 1981 model year. After a long gap, the same name returned for 2003 as a revived youth-sized motocross machine, making the history of this model unusually split across two separate production periods rather than one continuous span. The early bikes belong to Suzuki’s classic two-stroke RM era, which established the brand’s racing-oriented off-road identity. The later revival kept the familiar name alive for a new generation of riders, but it stood apart from the first-generation machines in both era and market role.
